Quiet Over Noise

A Spring Double-Feature: Two Arboretums, One April Afternoon

Two calm stops — Stoneleigh under sunshine, Jenkins under a soft gray sky.

April showed up loud — in petals. I spent the day wandering through two arboretums in the Philly area, chasing color and quiet. Stoneleigh set the tone; later at Jenkins, the sky went soft and gray. Both were calm, gentle, and very, very colorful.

Stoneleigh: A Natural Garden

Beautiful paths, friendly staff, old architecture tucked into the trees, and that nature-quiet that slows your breathing. Magnolias were showing off, with redbuds and odd little buds stealing attention along the way.

Jenkins Arboretum & Gardens

Later in the day the sun slipped away; the light turned moody and everything felt even quieter. Jenkins was relaxed and colorful — pond views, bright azaleas, and tight little curls of new ferns.
